THE ROYAL WEDDING!

April 30, 2011
By

I’ve been trying to write this all day. I want to write a post comparing the Royal Wedding to one of my favorite films, “Coming to America”, as both deal with the regular girl becoming royalty by marrying the prince. But I haven’t had a lot of time to do that because I had a job to finish up, I was actually watching the wedding this morning (at 3 a.m.!) and I was busy working on the Alabama  tornado page. All in all, I didn’t have a lot of time to write something about the wedding. But I will say this little bit: I’ve always liked Princes William (now William, Duke of Cambridge) and Harry, and Kate–now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, seems like the right type of girl to represent the monarchy. It’s also nice to see a commoner as part of the Royal Family. But by the same token, it’s also nice to see that the younger generation of royals–particularly the aforementioned–are very down-to-earth people who want to be as regular as everyone else in England (that’s very refreshing, especially for us “poor” people!). Prince Harry even had his own Twitter page for a while. And, speaking of Prince Harry, even though the news stations picked up on the down-to-earth, youthful quality of the young royalty, Prince Harry said it best in a tweet on his newly-minted Twitter page:

I’m a normal person, just like you. The only difference is I’m from a different family!

Isn’t that nice? In short–it’s good to see the monarchy new again. A separation from the old. I know I’m an American, so I don’t know all of the facts about the monarchy, but I’ve been reading up on them, and I’ll say that it’s nice to see something happy concerning them.  And the fact that this portion of the monarchy would like to be seen as approachable shows that that Princess Diana did well in raising them.

I’m not sure how I got on that rant. Whenever I say I’m going to write a little, I end up writing a lot. But there it is. Okay, enough with that—onward to some pictures!!!!
