A few days ago, I posted the music video “All is Fair”, made by Anoop Desai, R&B/pop singer and one of the celeb friends to Moniqueblog. I was able to catch up with him recently to get some insight on the video as well as some of the latest goings-on in his life.
Moniqueblog: How is Atlanta treating you?
Anoop Desai: Great! I love the energy and the people here. And getting a lot of work done here as well.
What prompted the move to Atlanta?
I wanted to be down here to really have a creative community surrounding me. I’m working on a trilogy of EPs this year (called Zero) and ATL has been a productive place.
From your time in Atlanta, what has become your favorite place to go?
I’ve been trying to check out my neighborhood spots but it’s been cold and rainy here. I’ll have to let you know come springtime!
Have you had the “pleasure” of taking the Marta yet? *
To and from the airport is about all.
A lot of famous people live in Atlanta, and now you’re among the fold. What do you make of Atlanta being the the New York City of the South?
It has it’s own vibe. I love that I can get work done and be a part of that community and still be in the south. There’s a constant buzz here but it also feels like home.
How did your party at Coposhi go?
Great! Got to show my new community my debut music video and share news about the Zero trilogy.
Who came up with the storyline of the music video?
The director, Jeff Tomsic, and I
What was it like being on set?
Tiring but fun. You have to trust other peoples visions and abilities to really make it work.
You’ve been tweeting regularly about your upcoming mixtape, “Zero”. What can you tell me about it?
It’s going to be three EP length projects all coming out this year. It really represents the evolution of my style while also showcasing my inspirations and origins.
When do you expect it to be complete?
The first of three will be out in March.

So that’s the rundown, y’all! Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch up with Desai in the future, as it’s always fun talking to him. Make sure to keep your eye out for “Zero”. Also, if you’d like to read my first chat with Anoop, click here.
*(Interviewer’s note: I put parentheses around “pleasure” in the question about the Marta because, if one has taken the Marta, one knows it to be a “special” experience.)

Can’t wait for Zero!
