Comics Alliance probably said this better than I ever could, but this issue was pretty doggone entertaining. I won’t go into my usual spill about the great glossy paper (no copy residue on my fingers!), but I’ll just jump into the story.
Betty and Veronica get the hots for the new guy Ivan who looks mysteriously like the vampire in the latest vampire movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Vampires. While Ivan is mysterious, the other new kid, Jared, is outgoing and becomes all of the guys’ best friend, especially Reggie. Jared, along with Reggie, who thinks Ivan is a vampire, hatch a plan to prove to the girls once and for all that Ivan is a vampire. Later on, Veronica finds out the truth about Ivan, and how he’s trying to get back at Jared before the town falls prey to whatever Jared has in store.
This book is highly entertaining, and surprisingly tightly written. I am astounded at the complete 180 Archie Comics, Inc. has taken in the past few months. It’s great to have them in the 21st century. While one character says “whack”, a word which hasn’t been in use since the early noughts, everyone is, for the most part, in 2010. This book will keep you hooked from beginning to end, and you will actually be excited for the next part to see what exactly Jared is (more than likely he’s a werewolf) and what he’s going to do to Riverdale if he gets control.
