I just watched NBC’s special Sunday episode of The Marriage Ref, and it was funny! I was expecting to have more jokes that were of the “we’re famous, so what we say is automatically funny”, variety, but the jokes stuck, and the ’50s or ’60s game show setup of the show was also very neat; the show’s opening starts out with a vintage-esque cartoon of Jerry Seinfeld and his wife arguing about something, and host Tom Papa saying he can referee it. The vintage show theme continued with Marv Albert giving the Barbasol Shot of the Day, “sponsored by Barbasol”, reminiscent of the old game shows with products with important sounding names like “Barbasol”. I loved the show, and I’m sure I’ll try to catch it when it moves to it’s regular night on Thursday.
